Considerable uncertainty exists over demand and supply of globally traded agriculture commodities leading to uncertainty regarding availability and prices. This is in turn driving inflationary pressures for food and beverage manufacturers.

Fred is the lead macroeconomist at ABARES (Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics and Sciences). He joined ABARES in 2019, working in the Farm Survey Program before going on to lead research into farm financial performance and the agricultural labour market. In his current role, Fred leads ABARES research into macroeconomic drivers affecting the agricultural sector and commodity markets.
